1. Low average temperatures and lack of mesquite ( " Prosopis juliflora " ) might limit northern expansion. 2. The invasive species " Prosopis juliflora " is noted to be spreading in the sanctuary resulting in decrease of grassy and herbaceous patches. 7. "Prosopis juliflora ", a mesquite found in Kenya, shows unusual amount of (-)-mesquitol from its heartwood. 8. Now the river is a large Sewage and banks are full of the Prosopis juliflora or Seemai karuvel or Vilayati babul an invasive thorn bush. 9. A local tradition is that a foreigner in this woreda introduced the invasive species " Prosopis juliflora " to the Afar Region in 1988. 10. Dalbergia sissoo, Acacia nilotica, Zizyphus sp, Ficus sp, alien Prosopis juliflora in large clumps and other trees are planted along the embankment.
